What is an Ultrasonic Sensor?

An ultrasonic sensor is similar to a bat or a dolphin. The sensor uses something similar to echolocation to give a circuit “eyes”. If a circuit was used to make a small robot then the sensor could be used to keep it from dropping off a table.

Ultrasonic sensors use sonar to “see” the surrounding area. This is what gives circuits “eyes”. The sonar however will not work as well on acoustically soft materials such as cloths.
