Compass

Compass is a very useful instrument for finding directions and kids will learn how to make their own compass

Materials: Sewing Needle, Magnet, Wax paper, Scissors, Bowl, and water

Procedure:

  1. Magnetize the needle by stroking the magnet over it
  2. Switch ends of the needle and use the opposite side of the magnet and continue to magnetize
  3. Tear off a piece of wax paper 
  4. Cut a circle out of wax paper with 1 inch of diameter
  5. Thread the needle through the wax paper
  6. Fill the bowl with water
  7. Float your compass in the water
