What is a temperature sensor?

A temperature sensor is similar to a thermometer.

There are 2 types of temperature sensors.

Contact Sensors

These types of sensors require contact with whatever you are trying to get the temperature of. They mostly use 2 pieces of metal that send a signal when either of them change. Some can be cheap and have a high range but aren’t too accurate but others cost lots of money but will get more accurate results

Non-Contact Sensors

Non-Contact sensors are things that scan and detect heat radiating off of objects. They have a wide range and are typically used in infrared imaging and taking temperatures without using anything like a contact thermometer would meaning it wouldn’t have to be something that directly touches anything.
